“It’s not the end. In fact, it is just the beginning.” -Unknown
We did it! One full year of self discovery, pushing ourselves into new places, and remembering the importance of self-care and how to care for others. It has been quite the adventure, Twelve Months of Bliss. For those of you who took part – did you enjoy it? What was your favorite challenge? Did anyone keep a 12MofBliss journal and answer the journal questions each month? Is this something you would do again?
Check out all of the 12 challenges below:
- June: Happiness Stamped
- July: Making Room
- August: A Life Inspired
- September: Stretch
- October: Bliss in the Heart of the Beholder
- November: The Love Letter
- December: Pay Bliss Forward
- January: Own It
- February: Sharing Kindness Over Negativity
- March: Don’t Wait
- April: Disconnecting (to Reconnect)
- May: Celebrate Together
Pretty amazing to look back at all of them, isn’t it? This has been such a special thing to do with you all, even though it was the second time around for me personally. A few of you have asked ‘why the title Twelve Months of Bliss’ and I wanted to share my thoughts about that.
Bliss (noun): supreme happiness; utter joy or contentment.
The word ‘bliss’ gets tossed around quite a bit – and don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining (because it’s one of my favorite words) but after awhile I tend to forget what the word ‘bliss’ really means. Bliss is a pretty amazing thing, surely something we will hope to attain for the rest of our lives. The truth is though, and if you took part in one or all of the Twelve Months of Bliss challenges you have probably realized, the full twelve months most likely was not all bliss, even when you gave your all to each challenge. Life is made up of valleys and mountain peaks and weird middle parts where we’re not even sure where we are. The point of these challenges though, and what I hope you were able to realize too is that despite where you are – in the valley, on the mountain top, or somewhere in-between – there are still moments of bliss to be found. We must keep our eyes open for them, we must expect them, and we must accept them when they find us. We must swim in it, letting it cover us completely – as small or as big as each piece of bliss may be. Surely each one is a true gift, meant to be savored.
I had so much fun following those of you who shared the ways in which you celebrated (for May’s challenge Celebrate Together) on Instagram using the #Celebrate12MofBliss. Here’s a glimpse of what that looked like:
I also wanted to feature three people in today’s post – Michelle, Sheryl, and Brittany. These gals took part in 95% or ALL of the Twelve Months of Bliss challenges! Thank you for joining me each month, ladies!
Michelle – Grammie Time
I’m Michelle! I’m a lifestyle blogger, blogging a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I like to encourage others along life’s journey and of course celebrate the simple joys of being a grandmother.
Favorite 12 Months of Bliss Challenge: August’s A Life Inspired. I chose to focus on words for this challenge: their meaning and how my inspiration comes from them. I had to really focus on going deeper within myself and think about what inspires me. I don’t typically take the time to do something like this.
Random Fact: I am a clean freak. I actually enjoy the satisfaction that comes from a good house cleaning.
Sheryl – How to Make a Life
I’m Sheryl, a counselor and life coach who helps others to stop existing and start living. My blog is a place where I document my own life’s journey and use it as a blueprint to help others find motivation, hope, and inspiration (along with healthy food) for their journey. I believe you should stop dreaming and start doing!
Favorite 12 Months of Bliss Challenge: June’s Happiness Stamped.
If she was stranded on a deserted island…: Being solar powered, being stranded on a deserted island would not be such a bad thing. I would make sure I had sunscreen, a journal to write about the adventure and a great pair of sunglasses!
Brittany – B in the Great Funkk
I’m Brittany! I am a born and raised Montana girl but my heart secretly waits for me on a beach somewhere.
Favorite 12 Months of Bliss Challenge: November’s The Love Letter. I shared that challenge with any and all of the good women in my life. It was a great challenge and experience digging that deep and writing it.
Random Fact: I am overly independent to a fault.
Before we wrap these twelve months up, there is one challenge we really need to go back to (on our own) and that’s November’s Love Letter. Did you write a love letter to yourself? The challenge instructed each of us to then take our letter, seal it in an envelope, and put it someplace safe. It is now time to open the envelope and read your letter. I don’t know about you all but it’s kind of crazy to see what a much better job I’ve done in the last few months at loving myself, and I feel stronger.
It’s true, you know. This is not the end, it is only the beginning of a beautiful adventure we call LIFE. And perhaps now you feel slightly better equipped to live that life with a bit more confidence, hope, grace, and joy.
To be present. To swim in bliss daily. To be thankful always.
To be the love you wish to see in the world. Ready??
