celebration EG recap

A BIG weekend… GAH!

May 15, 2015
Happy Friday!! This weekend is a big one in my family…. my “baby” brother is getting MARRIED! I don’t know how this happened… surely he’s not old enough for marriage! 😉 For any of you big sisters out there… do you still sometimes look at your younger siblings and see them as the 10 year olds they used to be? My brother hasn’t been 10 in 18 1/2 years but he’s still my baby bro/ best Halloween present I ever got, I can’t help it.

This is one of my all time favorite photos. My brother, Andy, is on the right… that’s Christian on the left, who is also the Best Man this weekend 😉 These two had gone into a store together for some last minute Christmas shopping and naturally decided to take selfies of themselves trying on all the goggles. Never a dull moment with this family. You can read more about Andy and his sweet soon-to-be-wife (and my soon-to-be-sister!) here. Come join me over on my Instagram account to follow along in the wedding festivities this weekend! 🙂

In case you had a crazy busy week like I did, here’s what you might have missed on EG…

On Monday I officially introduced Twelve Months of Bliss, which will begin on May 26th! Will you be joining?! I heard from so many of you who are excited to take part, which obviously makes me SO excited. (Also? It was one of the best Grateful Heart turnouts ever! If you’re looking for some happy, encouraging, and inspirational reads this weekend, here are 39+ of them!

If you’re an animal lover, you must read this special story of my sweet Cleo.

I went exploring with Christian this week, soaking up the beauty that is Nashville and letting nature take all of my stress and EAT IT. 😉

Also, just a couple of things I felt necessary to share with you all… I am so far behind on my blog reading (why? BECAUSE MY BROTHER IS GETTING MARRIED THIS WEEKEND) but did catch these gems…
  • Wes Anderson designed a café in Milan and it’s everything you’d think it would be AND MORE. I’m a huge fan of anything Wes Anderson and just as his films are always visually appealing, so is this spot. (If only it would have been open when we were there!!!)
Happy weekending!

  • YAY! Weddings are so fun and special, and even more so when it's someone so close to you. Can't wait to see your beautiful pics!

  • Sharon

Congratulations on the BIG DAY!! Oh, can't wait to see all the beautiful photos! And yes, I do understand that *weird* look at our siblings. My little brother just turned 58 yesterday – (quite a feat, I am only 29…ahem) – but forever and always he'll be my little brother. The one who teased me unmercifully, made me laugh like no one else, and is always there to lean on.

As for Cleo – yes, I understand. I am rather attached to my grandbeagle, Marty, and I cannot explain how I feel about him. Healing, oh my. Yes. I am convinced that he is an angel sent to me by God. I think there's something very special, maybe even holy, about a relationship between a human and an animal. I call it an "echo of Eden" – when we get a glimpse of how it used to be, and how it will once again be forever.

  • My "baby sister" just got married three weeks ago so I totally get it. The wedding was actually more emotional for me than I expected. In the end, I was just really happy that she found a great person to spend the rest of her life with. Blessings on your brother's marriage!

  • My baby brother is getting married next year and I seriously have no idea when he got old enough to date let alone get married. So crazy! Congrats to your little bro, enjoy the wedding!

  • What a big weekend!!!! SO fun – I hope you have a blast celebrating with your family!!

  • I'm the biggest sister in a blended family situation, and yes, I still picture my only biological brother as the toothy grinned little boy, but in reality he's almost twenty, and towers over me. I hope you have a great wedding weekend celebrating your brother and new sister in law!

  • My siblings are absolutely still just 10, 8, and 4 years old. They can't possibly be adults or a teenager… It's just not possible… Meh!

  • haha!! You know, I HAVEN'T seen it but now I must!!

  • Thanks, Steph!!

  • ha! So glad I'm not alone 😉

  • It's such a beautiful cafe… I can't believe we missed the opening by a few weeks, darn it!

  • aw! Yes, I'm sure no matter how old we get, the childhood memories with our siblings remain our favorites 🙂

So glad you have Marty, Sharon. Thank you for stopping by and for this sweet note!

  • Lots of waterproof mascara 😉 It was a wonderful wedding- such a special day! Thanks for the note, Jen!! 🙂
