I had two “projects” for the shower guests, one of them being a Date Night Jar. Just because you get married, doesn’t mean the dating should end so I wanted to give Andy and Cassie something that would help encourage the continued dating 😉
DIY: Bride & Groom Thank You Cards + Bridal Shower GamesFebruary 24, 2015
When my mom and I began planning for my soon-to-be sister-in-law’s bridal shower, I knew I wanted to add personal touches wherever I could. We’ve all seen the infamous Mustache + Kiss graphic, which I loved, but there was only one problem – my brother doesn’t have a mustache. Instead, he has this giant, bushy red beard so you can imagine my excitement when I noticed that PicMonkey (I’m a huge fan!) had a variety of beard graphics. My future SIL, Cassie, is also known for rocking quite the pink lip so immediately I knew what the graphic theme of their shower would be:
After Christian and I got married, I remember going through so many Thank You cards and thought, what a cute gift personalized thank you cards would make, especially for a shower! I found a package of 10 Textured Cards & Envelopes at Michaels and used PicMonkey not only for the graphic but also for the font at the bottom: five of the cards say “cassie loves andy” and the other five say “andy loves cassie.” This really was so easy and I would totally do this, using other graphics, to make my own Greeting or Thank You cards. (Currently in the works, actually. Stay tuned) 😉
Not only did Cassie love the cards but my brother loved the graphic so much, he’s planning on using it as his next tattoo. I don’t want to pat myself on the back or anything, but um…. the fact that my artwork will go on and on (and on)? Queue me up, Celine. We’re about to duet this little number.
When it came down to the shower games, I’d seen so many bride and groom Q&As but, wanting to save some money – as well as personalize it, I decided to make my own, using PicMonkey again! Of course I continued the beard and kiss theme…
This was really fun for me to make (considering I know my brother so well, I was laughing so hard while coming up with some of these questions) and it was so much fun for everyone to play. I found cute little gifts in the dollar section at Michaels for the winners of the game = cheap and easy!
I took the shower theme’s graphic and printed them out in little square cards (on stock paper). The idea was for each guest to write down a date idea on a card and then put all of the cards into the jar. We actually ran out of time at the shower for the guests to do this (bummer!) but Cassie loved the idea so much that she’s going to put out the jar and date night cards next to the Guest Book at the Reception for ALL of the wedding guests to fill out! Now Andy and Cassie will have lots and lots of date ideas (no excuses, bro!) 😉
The other shower project for the guests was a photo album (also found at Michaels), to be filled with marriage advice. I put a picture of Andy and Cassie on the cover, and then all of the shower guests wrote out their own marriage advice on recipe cards, which were then stuffed into the album.
While I will not be going into party planning professionally (I know. You were totally going to ask.), I really did have such a fun time creating these fun, personalized gifts and games for my favorite couple!
Have you ever thrown a bridal shower? Did you make personalized items?
