One of the things I love most about blogging are the friendships and communities so easily made and found within the blogging world. When I first started to blog, I just remember thinking how much I would appreciate having another blogger who’d been blogging for some time to bounce ideas and questions off of. When Christine and Chelsee created the Bigs & Littles blogging group as a way to connect two blogging buddies as a source to answer such questions, I felt the nudge to perhaps provide some help to a newer blogger and immediately signed up. I was paired up with Alanna from Alanna & Company and have really enjoyed getting to know her better over the past few weeks. Today I am sharing with you all my recent interview with her 🙂
EG: How did you start blogging and what do you like most about it?
A&C: I started my blog this past Thanksgiving because I had a lot of extra time on my hands and wanted to start a new hobby. Knitting just wasn’t going to do it for me anymore! I like that blogging keeps me busy and challenges me to be creative and think of new ideas every day.
EG: What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced with blogging?
A&C: The biggest challenge for me is growing my blog and gaining a loyal audience. When people enjoy my posts, it motivates me to write and share more. It was difficult to find a good balance between what I enjoy writing and what people enjoy reading. I’ve also found a few great groups of bloggers who are awesome about outreach and supporting other bloggers. That has definitely helped!
EG: Where, or from whom, do you find your inspiration, encouragement to continue writing/blogging and/or being creative?
A&C: I find inspiration in every day things. For example, the other week, someone asked me if I visited Richmond and I had a hilariously epic story to answer her with. She thought it was the funniest thing ever, so I decided, why not share it with my readers? For the most part, the inspiration for the majority of my posts occur pretty organically. I really enjoy when I get good feedback and people comment on my posts. Often, that is all the motivation that I need to keep on writing and sharing on my blog!
EG: What are three things you hope to learn about blogging?
A&C: I really am enjoying learning about SEO and the inner workings of websites and social networking. I would love to learn how to code and design better since I am such a visual person. Lastly, I honestly want to be better about writing in general. Sometimes, I am truly awful with grammar, so I am trying to improve my writing style and technique.
EG: What are three of your favorite posts you’ve written?
A&C: 15 Signs You’re Going Through a Quarter-Life Crisis, How to Make Sparkle Text in PicMonkey, The Pressures of Engagement and Marriage
