Faith in change.

September 16, 2015

There are so many things I love about having this space, this blog. One of the things I love the most is that I can go back in time, to see where my mind and heart were “a year ago today.” Yesterday I decided to head back in time and came across this post titled, Season’s Change, His Beauty. In that post, I recognized and gave thanks for His delight in change – in renewal – which I believe is clearly shown through the changes of seasons – even through the changes we witness during this season of fall.

It comforts me to think that He delights in change, in renewal, especially in these times when my soul stirs and I beg for the inspiration to come back to me like a rushing wave. It comforts me to read past words my fingers have typed, thoughts and feelings that closely match the thoughts and feelings I’m feeling once again: the need for creative inspiration, the need for renewal. Knowing I felt this way last year and remembering that new inspiration did come and find me once again helps me to breathe easier. It reminds me that all I have to do is continue to be and to continue holding tight to the faith that He has grand things planned for my life – a truth that does not change.
All of this to say- if you are currently struggling through a creative drought and begging for renewal, or if you are currently grasping with all your might for something steady during your season of change – have faith. Remember His own delight in change, in seasons. Remember that even through our different seasons of life, there is still beauty to be found in the change. Remember that through it all, He is the rock we can steady ourselves on. His grand plans for your life will never change. His love for you will remain until the end of time.
PS – Something else that was happening a year ago? The Influence Conference! And I’m SO excited to be headed back for another round this weekend 🙂 As a bonus, I get to room with two of my blogging friends – Rebecca and Amy! Yes, I get to meet two of my favorite blogging friends IN REAL LIFE. So now I can just call them “my friends”?! 😉 You can follow along in my Influence adventures via Instagram, but don’t give up on this space – I have another fun post to share with you before the week is through!
ALSO, don’t forget about this giveaway, thanks to Good Word Candles

  • Change use to rock my world at times and now I’m learning to embrace it. It isn’t always as scary as we allow our mind to think it is. God is the one steady, sure, unchanging presence in our life and to me that is reassuring in itself. Especially when everything else truly is out of our control. Enjoy your weekend at the conference and I remember when I met Lowanda this summer (a blogger) and how exciting it was to meet someone I’d been visiting with all these months through the blogging world. Will be excited to hear all about your time there.

  • One of my favorite parts of blogging! Letters from the past to yourself!

  • I love fall and I think I feel most creative in the fall and winter season. (That’s probably opposite many people…) I started my blog last fall so I’m excited to go back and see where my mind was. Emily, I think that your words are so comforting and renewing- you should do a weekly devotional through email or something. Your words are so gently and uplifting. It’s definitely something I’d look forward to reading each week!
