Friday Favorites: It’s Hot.

June 17, 2016

summer at the pool EG

Y’all. (Yeah… I’ve been saying it here and there. If you follow me on snapchat – embergrey – you already know this!) It reached nearly 100 degrees here this week – twice! While many of you might cringe while reading that, I’m just over here doing my little happy dance in the sunshine (and then going inside to cool off) because I love hot summers!

Today I thought I’d share some of my favorites from the week, but before I get to all of that – did you catch my friend Bekah’s post from Monday?! She is heading to India on her first ever mission trip and not only am I so excited for her, but I’m thrilled I get to be a part of it in some small way. You can be too! Check out this super cute tee (I bought mine today)! Also, I’m still responding to all of your sweet comments from Tuesday’s post… I really love the relationships I’ve made through this space. Thank you all for not only stopping by to read this blog, but for interacting with me too – it’s my favorite part about blogging.

Alright! Here are my weekly faves…

I tried quite a few new recipes this week (most from Well & Full – still totally obsessed) but these were my favorites: the Chickpea Scramble Breakfast & the Rainbow Chakra Salad (both vegan dishes & both DELISH.) (You can find more of my favorite eats here!)

This drink, the Watermelon Lemonade Margarita, was as good as it sounds and a perfect way to cool off from the heat and relax. (You can find more of my favorite drinks here!)

Favorite song(s) this week: Lighthouse, by Phillip Larue and Sing to You by John Splithoff. (Also, I still rock out pretty hard to JT’s Can’t Stop the Feeling. I’m calling this one my 2016 Summer Anthem because DUH.)

Favorite Funny of the week was this oldie (but such a goodie) of Maya Rudolph “singing” the National Anthem for an SNL skit. I laughed so hard I cried. (And that’s the best kind of laughing if you ask me.)

Swimming with wild pigs. Apparently it’s a thing (or has been for some time now) and when I first heard this mentioned on one of the morning shows this week, I thought no way is that real and no way could I do it! But as soon as I looked up from my computer and saw just how cute those pigs were, and just how blue and beautiful that water was, I was sold. Swimming with the pigs in the Bahamas went right on my bucket list 😉 (Seriously though, check out this video – get thru the first 30 seconds, which are really weird… I think he’s trying to be funny – and tell me this isn’t the cutest thing ever. The baby pig at minute 3:30 – gah!!)

And alright, hey. For those of you who missed my snapchat vids this past week, you can catch up on one of my stories here. (“Brenda” is a character I’ve had WAY too much fun playing every since Snapchat came out with that hilarious filter – definitely my fave and one that might pop up here and there not just on Snapchat but on Ember Grey too… stay tuned.)

What are everyone’s plans for the weekend?!  I’ll be spending lots of time at the pool 😉 XO!

We hit triple digits several times lately, too! I like it, but I don’t love it as much as you do. A Watermelon Lemonade Margarita sounds good and refreshing! Mason and I love to dance to that JT song. It’s so fun. I have been seeing so much about swimming with pigs. I bet its fun. My friends are in Aruba last night and went to “flamingo” island where they got to hang out with flamingos and feed them. Not to mention they were in the most beautiful water with gorgeous skies! I am hoping we get to swim with dolphins in FL this summer! Your Snapchats are hilarious and always make my day.
