celebration Chi2TN grateful heart monday

A Grateful Heart (+ weeklong linkup!)

November 24, 2014
Well so much for me “catching up on” all of my Project 52 this past weekend! Oops! I had grand plans of sharing my most recent photos for the series, as well as spending hours (yes, I seriously had hoped for that) catching up on all of my favorite blogs and none of it happened. BUT, don’t assume this means I was just lounging around and watching Cops all day either (although I feel like I need a day like that soon). Believe it or not, I was pretty productive this weekend.Today, I am grateful for our Nashville home. And by this, I mean an actual, physical house… a roof to cover our heads.

Praise!! This weekend was all about signing our lease and literally running to the bank and to FedEx to overnight the security deposit. This weekend was about meeting with our top three movers and after what felt like a crazy day of speed dating, we finally decided on one… which meant more signing and more bank runs. (This is also when Emily realized she’d lost her checkbook- something she’s NEVER done in her life before, and therefore having to go BACK to the bank for a third time so that her banker could take care of the problem.) (Talking about it in 3rd person makes me feel like I’m talking about someone else and it’s not totally my fault.) This weekend was about moving our actual move date UP about a week and a half, which also means my days of watching movies and packing “for fun” is now more like, “OMG we gotta get this place packed NOW.” So obviously there’s a whollllllle lot going on over here, but all of it is good (well, minus the checkbook fiasco) and I’m giving SO MUCH PRAISE that all of it really is going so smoothly.

Oooj & Cleo, reporting for packing duty. (They hate this part.)

We are incredibly excited about the house we found in Nashville. We’d prayed for what felt like so long for a “perfect home” that would fit our “home-life” needs as well as Christian’s studio needs and this house is seriously perfect for it all. I can’t wait to share some of it with you guys in the months to come. Until then, if you could keep us in your prayers… this next month is going to be about a lot of details and packing and I’m hoping we’re also able to enjoy the last of our days in Chicago while we are still here. The good news is that since we’re now moving BEFORE Christmas (Dec 16th to be exact!), we’ll be able to breathe easy and really relax and enjoy my favorite holiday with our families. And once again, I am grateful.

(And PS- thank you all so much for continuing to bear with me as it still feels like I’m on a bit of a blogging break. I’m told these boxes can’t pack themselves but I think that’s something someone should look into inventing..) (Also, Thanksgiving is this week. !!!!!!!!!! I’ll have some special Thanksgiving related posts these next three days – can’t wait!)

  • Congrats on the new place! It is such a relief when big pieces like a home & movers fall into place, I hope that packing goes smoothly! Pace yourself and don't feel guilty about taking breaks 🙂 I take lots of mini ones when I'm packing, it's the only way I stay sane!

  • How awesome that God has blessed you with a great home in Nashville. (we need to have a coffee date!) I have been so convicted lately to be more grateful for my home after spending time with people over the last few weeks who don't own any home but have to freeze out in the cold 🙁 God is good!

  • I love love love them in that picture.

Happy you have a roof over your head!

  • Liz

Congratulations! So happy that things are pulling together for you! I can only imagine how crazy things must be for you right now. Praying for a smooth transition and that you get all settled in comfortably with plenty of energy left to enjoy Christmas 🙂

  • How exciting!! It will be so nice to be semi-settled before Christmas. Remind me why you guys chose to move to Nashville? I've heard great things about it.

  • Praise God!! 🙂 Hooray!! I know exactly how elated you must be feeling about the house being sorted 🙂 I'm so happy that things are falling into place and delighted that you'll get to ENJOY Christmas rather than finish packing frantically over the holidays. I can't wait to hear all about it when you get there – wish I could help you pack, that part is no fun. Eyes on the prize though! 🙂 XO

  • Thank you, my sweet friend!!! 🙂 It's hilarious the way the packing began…. organized with everything having its place in each box…. to now it's just like- just throw all the crap into a box. hahah!

  • I would love a coffee date, Katie!! Christian will actually be traveling a lot the first month we're there so it would be nice to get out for some coffee dates! 🙂 (And yes- I hear you. There are so many homeless in Chicago – I wish I could save each one of them. I'm very grateful for a roof to cover my head!)

  • Thank you!! 🙂 They are adorable… and have been through many moves so I feel like they're kinda pros now 😉

  • Thanks, Liz!! 🙂 I'm one of those sick people who most of the time thrives in chaos (simply so that it can end) so I'm kind of in a serious LET'S GET THIS DONE mode 😉 Thank you so much for your prayers!

  • We'll come back to lots of boxes and unpacking but that's the fun part, so I don't mind 🙂 We chose Nashville because of Christian's job (music industry) 🙂 Something we'd wanted for quite awhile but the timing wasn't right until recently. Okay so now you need to visit Chicago AND Nashville! 😉

  • Seriously HOORAY!!!! 🙂 Eyes on the prize is right! (Thank goodness for Netflix… it's become my packing buddy) 🙂
