grateful heart monday snapshot of the soul

A Grateful Heart (+ weeklong linkup!)

December 22, 2014
Happy week of Christmas! πŸ™‚ I cannot wait to connect with you all through our sharing of gratefulness. I have been meeting so many “new to me” bloggers the past few weeks. If you link up this week, be sure to check out some of the others linked up below – there are so many inspiring posts and people!Last week, I had another snapshot of the soul kind of moment. It all started when I was going through Buzfeed’s Top Toys of the 80s and 90s (or something like that). My parents were standing over me as I scrolled through so many toys from my childhood, and we all laughed as we remembered them. My mom mentioned that she’d kept all of my toys and my dad suggested that we should all go to the basement and go through the toys together. I literally ran downstairs, with both of my parents quickly following.

Basically, you guys? It was Christmas morning. I was a HUGE fan of Barbie and dolls when I was little and going through my cherished toys literally brought tears to my eyes – this box held so many sweet memories. The three of us went through each Barbie, each doll, each My Little Pony, each piece of doll clothing, while recalling hilarious memories involving all of it. I was so thankful that my mom had kept these things, and my heart was SO full as I went through it all with both she and my dad (who were both holding back tears too).

It’s funny how little things can hold so much meaning, and of course it’s not the actual toy holding meaning, but the memory behind it. I am grateful for so many happy childhood memories.

Continuing on with my Grateful Heart: KINDNESS from last week, this week I am grateful for kind and helpful customer service people. Oh, you didn’t know they exist?! Well they DO! Never in my life have I dealt with such cool people in customer service but it’s like these two people restored my faith in customer service humanity or something πŸ˜‰ Helpful, personable, kind, and with excellent follow-thru. Please and thank you!!

Apple Dumpling and Apricot Nectar, Raspberry Tart and Blueberry Muffin…one whiff of those dolls and I swear I was little again! So happy to hear that you are having great experiences with customer service people…they often have a bad reputation. Nice to hear positive things! Hope Nashville is treating you well! Glad you are safe and sound! XO

  • I loved dolls and My Little Pony too! What a great walk down memory lane.

  • I love relishing in memories. Those buzz feed things make me so happy. All the toys I completely forgot about. I love it to pieces. And yes yes good customer service is out there…hard to find, but it's there! Happy Monday Emily!

  • it fun to look back on childhood, I use to play with barbies as well. I think I still have been stored away in a closet somewhere. It's great to have happy memories to look back on and things that trigger those great memories. πŸ™‚

  • haha! For sure. I was telling my parents stories of the scenarios I would come up with when I'd play Barbies and they were in shock – I had quite the imagination, haha!

  • It's so much fun! My brother will be home tomorrow and I keep telling him, he needs to go through his old box as well πŸ˜‰ I think I used his GI Joe "dolls" and my Ken doll πŸ˜‰

  • Oh my gosh I have a few tubs like that in my parents' basement – my mom said now that I live back in the country she's bringing them all over in the new year – I can't wait to see what's in them lol!

And yes, good customer service is SO appreciated when it's found!! I'll tell you though, it's much more an art form over here. It doesn't exist in the UK!

  • It doesn't exist in the UK?! That's surprising to me!! Maybe the accents make things feel more polite? ha!

Oh how I love this! We always laugh and poke fun at my dad because he keeps EVERYTHING! We even go as far as calling him a somewhat hoarder. But, now I am wanting to go find all of my childhood toys he has kept!! So many fun memories.
