*I say “sometimes” in regards to the phrase “It will happen in God’s timing” because sometimes it does not in fact happen. Because sometimes? Sometimes God’s answer is No. (And it’s those times I remind myself, it’s only because God has something better in store for me.) But this is a whole other post.
Well I’m going to get real annoying right now. I’m going to get real cliche. There was a moment late last week when I was sitting in my office, just sitting there… thinking. Thinking about all of the specific things I’d been praying for in the last couple months, and then I looked at my weekly planner and it hit me. God had answered my prayers …. and…. (are you ready?)… not at all the way I’d pictured it to happen. It was one of those moments where I kind of kicked myself for making fun of that phrase my whole life, mixed with a huge prayer of thanks to God for the ways He is blessing my life and answering my prayers.
All of this a reminder to me that my thoughts are not God’s thoughts. This world and how I perceive it to be is not how God knows it to be. And honestly? It’s completely mind-blowing to even TRY and think about who God is…. how holy He is. I mean, seriously- mind. blown. And I can’t think about it for too long because my thoughts start spinning and my brain will start to hurt. What’s even more mind-blowing is to think about how this great God… this great and holy God – loves me. Crazy. I mean truly the craziest love I’ve ever heard of…. and I hope not a second goes by that I’m not forever grateful for that. (Thank you, Jesus!) For not just a God who answers prayers, my prayers, but for a God who loves me, even when His answer is No.
How’s THAT for a mind-blowing Monday?!
