grateful heart monday

Grateful Heart Monday (+ week-long linkup!)

August 18, 2014
Today, I am grateful for the freedom of gratefulness. Do you know what I mean? The fact that no matter what your heart feels grateful for in the moment- as small or as big as it may be… as deep or shallow as it may seem, it’s all valid. Whether it’s being grateful for life – old or new – or maybe it’s feeling grateful for a warm cup of coffee in the few moments of morning quiet before the craziness of the day starts- it all counts. When the heart is grateful, it’s focused on something higher, something positive, and something that is so good for the soul. I believe that when we focus on such things, rather than the moments that are hard or when life is rough, it keeps us moving forward so that we’re able to gracefully move through those rough times.Today and this week, when met with stress or rough days, I encourage you to focus on the positive. What is the positive, exactly? It’s all of the good things in your life… it’s all of the people, things, and moments your heart is grateful for. Write them down, say them out loud. Even if it’s just one thing that makes your heart happy, it is enough. And believe that it’s enough, to carry you through the hard times. Truthfully, no matter what- there is always something to be grateful for.

What are you grateful for?
Link up below and join the rest of us in starting each day this week with a grateful heart. Not enough time to write a Grateful Heart post today? No worries! This linkup will be open until Friday!

There are three easy rules for this linkup:

1. Link up to your Grateful Heart post, not just your blog’s homepage and please link your post back here (via link or GH button) so that others can link up too! *Any posts that do not have to do with this GH topic or those that do not link back up to this blog will be deleted.

2. If you share your Grateful Heart post on social media, please use #gratefulheart so that we can all find each other (If you use this hashtag on twitter, tag me & I will retweet! @embergreyblog)

3. Carry on and be grateful! XO!

I had to join the link up exactly for the reasons you mentioned today. The small things is what I'm grateful for, and I had to step back and remind myself of them this week. 🙂

  • You are so right! Being grateful and positive in the hardest of times always propels us to move forward in life 🙂

  • Thank you…I needed this link up and this post's reminder today. It's like you read my thoughts!

  • I always try to focus on the positive. It's not always easy – but it sure makes like more happy. 🙂

this is so true. it's so easy to get caught up in all the "but I'd rathers" or "i wish that instead" that we miss the little things. your post is coming at the perfect time, as I'm back to school today. summer is officially over and I'm having a really bad attitude about it! this week I'm choosing to focus on the positives.

  • So true that there is always something to be grateful for. I'm grateful for both the big and small things that I am often grateful for throughout my week. It is easy to get caught in thinking it has to be something big and spectacular for it to be something to be grateful for. Life is full of little moments that I am grateful for, it is those little moments that sometimes add up to a big moment.

  • Sometimes being grateful takes real effort. Having posts like this, and people like you, to encourage us is a BIG help. Thanks for lifting high the cause.

  • I think it is an awesome thing when we can learn to be grateful in every situation especially the bad ones! I have been making a point to find good in everything because I know it can always be worse!

  • needed this today

  • I think quite a few of us are going through some rough moments! You just have to pick yourself up and keep on moving forward! 🙂 Makes it seem easier when others are moving forward too 😉

  • Just keep swimming! 😉

  • I've been "feeling it" the past week… not sure what really, just kind of "blah." Doing this with you all always helps my week start out on a positive note 🙂

  • It's NOT always easy, but it's doable for sure!!

  • happy back to school day to you! I'm feeling it too… summer being over. We just have to keep on moving, choosing the good, you're exactly right!

  • So glad you connected with this today, Kim. Some days you really just have to CHOOSE it. But I feel like once you do, it's easier to see all of the other good things in each moment. Hope you have a great week!

  • exactly!! Giving thanks for big or small – you're still giving thanks. And that's how the shift takes place!

  • !!!! XOXO!!! I am grateful for YOU! (And miss you- we need another coffee date soon!) Wishing you a beautiful day, my dear friend!

  • it was totally deeper than I'd originally intended to go but just felt fitting for how I've been feeling lately 🙂 Looks like others have been feeling it too.

  • XO. I was in need of it too, Nina. I hope you have a day filled with happiness and joy 🙂

  • it really can be worse. And not that that negates any rough days we have, but focusing on the good things rather than the bad certainly helps pick up the heart!

  • well said emily! its so true…finding things to be positive about and grateful for can keep you going even in the hardest of times!

  • I need to stop and recognize the things I'm grateful for more often. My life is constantly anxiety-ridden between working long hours at 2 different jobs – it's easy to get pulled down or stuck in a rut, but important to remember there's so much more to life!

  • This is so true – and where I used to struggle to come up with something to be thankful for if I had a bad day or week before these Mondays I never have that problem anymore. If anything, I have to cut myself off from listing every little thing that I am feeling thankful over! It's a blessing to mood and spirit, so thank you!

  • It's SO easy to get pulled down! I really should make a grateful list every day but doing it on Monday seems to set the tone for the week 🙂

  • oh girl- list it all! 🙂 (I know what you mean though.) XO!

  • Some days it's the really big stuff, and other days it's things like getting the laundry done, you know? It still counts! 🙂

  • Agreed! Still counts. Every accomplishment, big or small, is something to be grateful for as there is always someone out there who can't even do that small thing. Be grateful for everything.
