This past Saturday, I was a guest blogger on The Girl Who Loved to Write and listed five of my most favorite fall dates. The first one I mentioned wasn’t necessarily “fall-ish” (yes, that’s a word) but is to me because Christian and I officially started dating in the fall-time, so we have some annual traditions we still continue – even if it’s just sharing chips and salsa and upgraded margaritas (because you always upgrade, right Anne?) 😉 Truth be told though, I prefer any date in the fall-time. Once I finally let go of summer, I am 100% pro-fall. It’s just so cozy! My favorite clothes to wear are the ones you wear when the weather gets cool and crisp- jeans, t-shirt, sweater, boots – it’s the little things, right?!
Having not seen my sweet husband in a little over two weeks, Christian declared yesterday as Sunday Funday and was. it. ever. I woke up to a bouquet of roses, or- as he called them “Sunday Funday Flowers” (we’re real official over here) and a hot cup of coffee. We then had lunch (because, you know, I woke up at like 11:30am) (yes, yes I did) at Lou Malnati’s which consisted of the best pizza in the land and some beers. So what do you do after you carb-load and consume a few Stellas? You take a nap. Because sleeping in until almost noon didn’t quite do it. So that’s what we did. We took a two hour nap and it was so fabulous. When we woke up, Christian mentioned that he wanted to watch a movie. My aunt had just let me borrow Pitch Perfect and, me not knowing what it was about, suggested that’s what we watch.
Let me tell you all something. If there’s anything that irritates me more than “nom nom” it’s A cappella groups, and songs like “Mickey You’re So Fine” and people who sing like Disney characters. It’s true. I mean that’s why I’m not a fan of Glee and still haven’t seen Frozen (#neverwill). So you can imagine the horror that swept over my soul within the first 3 seconds of this movie. I immediately grabbed for the remote to shut it off and that’s when Gail (Elizabeth Banks’ character) came on and said, “Oh yes. Nothing makes a woman feel more like a girl than a man who sings like a boy” and I died laughing. And so the movie continued. It was like a train wreck or something- you don’t want to watch because it’s just so bad, but you can’t help it- you have to look. Christian walked into the room and I immediately filled him in and warned him that he was sooooo gonna hate this movie and still- he agreed to give a try. We pretty much disliked the entire thing, and yet laughed through the entire thing. All throughout the movie, I was laughing so hard while I looked at Christian (who was also laughing), saying “I hate this movie so much!” – all in-between the tears of laughter. Then I thought- really, this is okay because I’m doing it #fortheblog. (Technically I wasn’t in the beginning but in order to share this with you and justify it all, it’s totally #fortheblog.)
While we may not have been 100% sold (solely due to the A cappella-ness of it all), Cleo was a fan. I’m serious. Cleo is in love with Benji Applebaum, and I mean that. We were watching the movie in bed, both of the babes sleeping at our feet. Cleo slept through the entire movie but when Benji came on for his solo at the very end?? She sat straight up to look at the tv and held her head, watching it, until his solo was over. It was HILARIOUS.
(Cleo asked me to include this clip for you all.)
After we watched the movie (I still can’t believe we made it through the whole thing), we went out for froyo (it’s Amy’s fault with all her froyo talk) and dare I say it was the perfect fall date with my babe. And for that- A cappella and all – I am grateful 🙂
