Blogland is amazing. It’s the one place where people who are doing the same kind of thing but in totally different ways, sharing completely different parts of life, can get to know each other and root for each other and introduce each other to each other’s audiences. (Stay with me now.) While I am definitely a fan of all things makeup and beauty, it simply is not my niche – which makes days like today so fun for me. I love being able to share the knowledge from my other blogger friends who know things that I don’t know and today I’m happy to reintroduce you to Lindsay from Bourbon, Lipstick, & Stilettos – my all-things-makeup go-to gal!

*The following post is a guest post, written by Lindsay from Bourbon, Lipstick, & Stilettos, specifically for Ember Grey readers.

Hi! I’m Lindsay and I blog at Bourbon, Lipstick, and Stilettos! I write about beauty, life, and everything in between. Since Christmas is a week away (what?!), I asked Emily if I could share a few holiday makeup products and tips.

If there’s ever a time it’s okay to be over-the-top, it’s the holiday season. With all the parties and festivities, it’s hard not to participate in a glitter frenzy! Here are my picks for gorgeous holiday makeup:

Add a touch of sparkle:

Nothing is more beautiful than a glowing face under the twinkling lights of a Christmas tree. Highlighter and blush are my FAVORITE makeup products because they add radiance- even when you’re dealing with dull winter skin. Here are my favorite highlighting and blush holiday-worthy products:

NARS Super Orgasm: the iconic blush shade kicked up a notch- this product includes gold glitter! It looks great on everyone and the glitter is a nice, holiday touch.

Tarte At First Blush Set: a set of 4 of Tarte’s finest blushes, including two matte and two sparkly shades. I prefer Entertain (pictured), a shimmery, rosy pink. The best news? These blushes last 12+ hours!

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone: BECCA is THE highlighting brand. Their product is rich, beautifully-pigmented, and so, so smooth.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette: provides the perfect, soft, all-over glow.

ColourPop Highlighter in Stole the Show: a buttery, sparkly, inexpensive highlighter with flashes of pink, silver and gold. Your face will look like New Year’s Eve!

Play up the eyes:

A dramatic eye is the perfect holiday party accessory:

L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Iced Latte: a stunning, shimmery nude that won’t overpower.

NYX Cosmetics Liquid Liner: a Christmas or New Year’s Eve party is the best time to try winged liner!

Physician’s Formula Instant Lash Extensions Kit: Intimidated by false lashes? Try this fiber mascara! It provides the drama without the trouble. Look for a review of this product on my blog soon!

Rock a bold lip:

Red lipstick is classic and it’s the best way to dress up any outfit! Plus, you’ll want to leave an impression if you encounter mistletoe or for that midnight kiss! 😉

MAC Russian Red: many women tell me they’re scared of red lipstick, but it’s all about finding the perfect shade. I think MAC’s Russian Red looks beautiful on everyone!

Set it and forget it!

Ever go to a holiday party and wish someone would turn on the air?! The mix of heat, winter clothes, 50 people crammed into a living room, and extra glass of champagne can cause your makeup to run down your face. Don’t forget to add a setting spray or powder to your routine!

Urban Decay Setting Spray: My sister got married two weeks ago, and one of the bridesmaids and I sprayed everyone down with the Urban Decay Setting Spray. The church was hot and we were nervous- but our makeup stayed put all night, even after champagne toasts and hours of dancing! Do not skip this step!
