Is This the Real Life?

December 28, 2015

Well whoa. First up- how ’bout some air fives for the last Monday of this year! Second of all, let’s just cut to the chase here: anyone else hurting a bit today? Anyone else almost forget what a normal day feels like? Anyone else feel like sleeping for a few weeks? Anyone else never want to drive a car again? Anyone else’s body in need of a serious detox? Anyone else ready to take down all of the Christmas decor immediately?

Anyone else miss it all already?

It’s almost midnight on Sunday- Christian and I just drove from Chicago to Indiana and in about 6 hours we’ll be on the road again, headed home to Nashville. While I’m pretty happy at the thought of being a homebody and hermit for the next few days, my heart already misses our amazing families and the special memories that were made this past week. SO GOOD!

Today I’m feeling especially grateful for the new year that will greet us in a matter of days; I don’t think I’ve ever been so pumped and excited for a new year as I am for 2016! I feel like Richard Simmons or something, overly and totally obnoxiously excited for life – so annoying in my mind that it annoys even my own self. You know what I mean? (Or maybe this is my body going into shock after being without sugar for longer than an hour.) Seriously though, I am already feeling so inspired, encouraged, and excited for the adventures that await us all in the new year. Until then though, I’ll be recounting all of the laughs that were had this past week, but especially the ones that were had over the picture at the top of this post…

Anyone else’s husband get a Freddie Mercury face mask for Christmas? No? Just mine?

  • That mask looks SO lifelike! I’m definitely right there with you on being a hermit and taking down the Christmas decorations… but at the same time I just don’t want the holidays to stop!

    • Isn’t it?! We haven’t been able to stop laughing over it. It was his most favorite gift 😉 ha!

  • That is a scary-good mask!

  • Richard Simmons – haha! Just laughed out loud at that part.

  • so much sugar detoxing happening…ah! I’m so looking forward to seeing how your 2016 goes…so many exciting things happening for your family.

    • Lady, the sugar detoxing is killing both Christian and me today – like, serious headaches. Our poor bodies! ha!

  • Haha I love everything you just wrote! And I completely agree…I think my body is going through sugar withdrawals and my husband has requested a lot of veggies for our dinners this week now that we’re back home. I love the holidays but it’s almost like needing a vacation from the vacation. I’m so excited to see what 2016 will bring, not just for me, but for everyone! 2015 has been pretty great, but I’m very much looking forward to what this new year has in store! <3

  • You have such a beautiful way of making me laugh and inspiring me at the very same time.

  • Sounds like you had a very busy, yet beautiful Christmas with your family. I did as well and I am also looking forward to the new year. I have taken my word for the year “cleanse” and de-cluttered my house. The boys and I had bags for Goodwill, bags to trash, and reorganized everything else neatly. I keep looking over everything in amazement and feel so renewed know that I have gotten rid of all the junk we needed to cleanse out of our lives. I hope your New Year is just as good as your Christmas and as exciting as your words are in this post! Happy New Year! Be blessed!

    • I love your word! It’s so nice to start out a new year with a clean and decluttered house, isn’t it?! I made a ton of drop offs at Goodwill right after we moved. Happy New Year!!
