I had the very best Presidents’ Day, guys. And I mean, isn’t that all anyone asks for? The morning was spent with X and one of my dearest, oldest (he’s not old though) friends and his girlfriend. They were in town from San Francisco (why they chose to leave their paradise and come to this snowy mess makes no sense to me but it doesn’t matter because selfishly, I was so happy to see him- even if they were freezing to death). You know that friend where it doesn’t matter how long you’ve gone without seeing each other, even talking to each other, but you just tend to pick up right where you last left off? That friend where you can one minute be talking about the super serious topics in life like Jay Z and Bey, Kanye’s new rap song, and justifying that surely a vacation means eating Oreo S’more Pancakes and hash browns is okay, even if you don’t make it to the gym later – but then the next minute you’re talking about totally simple things like life and this world and careers and relationships? 😉 And somehow, with this friend, you just seem to bounce around from the simple to the serious and back to the simple again and your significant others, who thank GOD know you so well, are able to bounce around with it all too? It’s like this every time I see him and man, I’m so ever thankful for that.
We all braved the 2039572nd epic snow storm of the season to meet at the best breakfast place in the city, Wildberry Cafe, and then made “some kid” take our picture afterwards, like a bunch of tourists. It was the perfect start to the most perfect President’s Day, I’ll tell you what.
Thank you to my sweet friend for always making time for me when you’re in town, and to your even sweeter girlfriend for sharing her breakfast with you with us. Until next time, guys! (And hopefully over bbq, cold drinks, and warm sun!)
On a completely random side note – but a very important random side note – I have to talk about how grateful I am for the community of bloggers I’ve only just begun to meet. Everything from a funny/silly post on their blog, to a positive comment on one of my own posts, to encouragement on a “slow day,” to legit blogging tips/advice/suggestions/and countless emails/links/tutorials. I’ve only just started to learn that this community of writers is much more than just that. These people are cheerleaders, doers, helpers, listeners, and people who really do mean it when they say “Let me know if you ever have any questions or need help” Thank you. I am finally learning to take you all up on that 😉
For any of you new bloggers out there, I would encourage you to check out Angel from Studio 404 and Erica from Erica Jacqueline (loved her recent post 6 things to do before you even write one blog post) – both of these ladies have posted tutorial after tutorial, all of which have helped me tremendously, if nothing more than a reminder that I’m right where I’m supposed to be. And yes- I know there are many, many more bloggers out there who do the same, God bless ’em!
We are far deeper than the words we write on this virtual page. And I am learning how to publicly voice those parts of me to those of you who don’t know me at all. (And do you know how hard that is for someone who constantly talks with their hands?!)
Wishing you all a beautiful week! And if you haven’t linked-up for Grateful Heart Monday, there’s still time! Linkup closes at midnight tonight. I’d love to hear what you’re grateful for!
