Mornings Like This (A Grateful Heart)

February 16, 2015

Mornings like this.

On mornings like this, Oooj sleeps with one paw on his bone – guarding it from Cleo who he thinks is after it. (He’s one smart dog.) She’s over in the corner of the room, just sitting there, staring at him with a look on her face that is oh-so-smug. (She’s one clichΓ© cat.) I love these two, together. Like peanut butter & jelly, it’s not complete if they’re not together. Like an old couple who’s been together for longer than they can even remember, and long enough that their bickering has become ‘cute.’

I love these two, the ways they look after each other. Like when Cleo waits by the back door, staring through the window to watch Oooj outside, and then will meow to let me know when he’s standing at the door and waiting to come back inside. Or when Oooj jumps out of bed in the morning and runs to Cleo when she meows. He wags his tail and licks her face, like he hasn’t seen her in days.

I love these two.

Today I am grateful for the bond and closeness that Oooj and Cleo share. I’m grateful that they have each other, and that they really do look out for the other. Our Babes. My grateful heart.

PS- In need of a boost today? Here are ‘20 Signs You’re Doing Better Than You Think You Are‘ by Brianna Wiest. Christian read this aloud to me yesterday and I knew immediately I’d be sharing it with you all today. Such great reminders and if you are able to check even ONE thing off? You’re doing good πŸ˜‰

What are you grateful for?

  • so cute! my sis brought her pup over today and I love how Coco and Walter play with each other! they adore each other…it's the cutest.

  • The way they look after each other is adorable!

  • Pets are wonderful and truly are a part of our family. I have 2 dogs and I love that they are each other's best friends. It's almost like watching siblings. One dog is older and often looks at the younger one like "Calm down…jeesh." So cute to watch them interact!

  • how sweet!! it's great that they're so close. I bet it's really fun watching them.

  • That's very cute and very clever. As much as I love cats, there is always food first

  • Your pets are so adorable! I wish Walter had a buddy like that. My parents dog is the closest thing he has and she doesn't always play well with others.

  • How sweet! I'm grateful for my family and friends! x

  • So cute! We have two cats- Rosie and bobby- and they are the best. They are outside but still, we go hiking near everyday and the come with us- walking beside us, protecting us just like guard dogs, it quite hilarious really, I've never seen a cat do that before.

  • Ahhh, your fur babies' relationship is so adorable! My two pups are best friends and have the best interactions, too!! I love the unique names- especially Oooj! What/who are they named after?

  • My fur babies' relationship just makes my heart melt, as does yours too! I love that they have that bond. Happy Monday Em!

  • Aww, so cute! We have three dogs and the two oldest spend the most time together and it's so sweet to watch them interact! They really are like brothers! πŸ™‚

  • That is so precious…I can just see him licking her face!

  • That post you linked to is gold my friend…

  • I seriously had not read any posts before re-writing mine this morning! And then reading this today as I'm coming to add my post to the link-up, I knew I made the right decision.

  • agreed.

  • I love the personality of pets.. way too much fun. Happy Monday sweet friend!

  • I love the relationship that grows between pets – it's amazing to see them interact and bond! Oooj and Cleo sound like such fun and lovey babes. πŸ™‚ (Also – a wonderful post you shared, I read it aloud to M today and we both had to nod our heads along with it. So true and so great to reassure ourselves sometimes!)

  • Animals just make life so much happier–especially ones with cute personalities!

  • I think it's because Cleo was a kitten when she was introduced to Oooj, so it's all she's known.

  • Coco and Walter- that's adorable.

  • It really is! Makes me smile every time πŸ™‚

  • haha!! They really do have such unique personalities. One time when I took Oooj to the vet for not eating, I told him I thought Oooj was punishing me because I'd been working a lot and not at home and the vet goes "Um, yeah… animals don't have human-like personalities." I thought- ARE YOU SERIOUS? Do YOU own a pet?

I did not go back to him πŸ˜‰ ha.

  • It's the cutest! Especially when they wrestle. Cleo can be such a dog sometimes!

  • It's obviously more work, having 2 pets, but I like knowing that Oooj has a buddy when we're gone.

  • My husband was never a cat person until he met Cleo πŸ˜‰

  • Me too!! πŸ™‚

  • Rosie and Bobby- cutest names! It really is funny to see a cat protect humans. If there's ever a knock at the door, Oooj barks but runs away, scared. Cleo is the one who runs over to it and literally growls. Cracks me up every time!

  • I just always feel better leaving the house knowing they have each other πŸ™‚ (Although sometimes Oooj needs some space from Cleo haha)

I will be answering the pet names question in my Part 3 of EG Tell-All – next Tues! πŸ™‚

  • Melts mine too! πŸ™‚ Hope you had a great day, Kel!

  • It's so sweet the way they stick together, isn't it? πŸ™‚

  • It's the sweetest thing! πŸ™‚

  • RIGHT?! Christian was reading through all of them and I kept interrupting him to say, "THIS IS SO GOOD."

  • I loved your post!!!! And especially that you shared the video. My parents' GP is the same way in the snow and it's so sweet to watch him play.

  • They're all unique, I just love 'em! Thanks, Jamie!! Hope you're having a great week! πŸ™‚

  • That post was so, so good. Definitely one I'll go back to when I'm having a rotten day πŸ˜‰

  • Hey Chelsea! I hope to see you next week for the linkup! πŸ™‚
