If I had to choose my daytime makeup celebrity inspiration (because that’s a thing, right?!), it would be Julianne Hough. I love the “fresh face with a pop” look during the day and prefer a minimal/light eye, light blush, and a bright lip. So my daytime makeup routine typically looks like this: under eye concealer, mascara, blush, and bright lipstick.
I wouldn’t necessarily consider myself ‘adventurous’ when it comes to makeup, in that I use the same items each time, but do love to try out different brands. The problem I run into though is this:
- I am sooo not a fan of in-store shopping for beauty products (I cannot take the crowds and especially cannot take the pushy salespeople)
- When I do try new online beauty stores (or the monthly beauty boxes), more times than not I’m disappointed with the quality of the makeup
Anyone else feel this way? Well, for anyone who is nodding yes right now, I am honestly telling you… Loxa Beauty – problems solved.
Loxa Beauty is an ethical online shop to get all of your salon products sent straight to your door. Not a fan of the pushy salespeople? There is none of that here, however– they do provide the option of getting your own stylist, barber, nail tech or beauty pro – directly from the Loxa site, saved to your profile. These professionals (who also go to Loxa for their beauty products) can provide you with personalized product recommendations. I love that this option is there because you never know when you just might want to try something new but aren’t quite sure where to start.
After visiting the Loxa website, I realized not only did they carry all of the top salon professional brands (Paul Mitchell – the only shampoo that likes my hair – CHI, American Crew, etc.), but they also had quite a few new brands I could try (which is what I ended up doing). While quality, and let’s be honest – price, are big contenders when choosing makeup, I’ll admit I’m a sucker for great and unique packaging 😉 As I went to pick out Loxa items to update my daytime routine, I focused on color, packaging, and reviews. Here’s what I ended up choosing:
LIPSTICK – theBalm Girls® Lipstick, color: Ima Goodkisser
One word to describe my feelings on this lipstick: OBSESSED. Please note: I am not wearing any lipliner in these pictures (!!) I loved the coverage of this lipstick, wow. And while I had originally expected a brighter, more coral color, I liked the more natural feel the true color brought to the whole look. The quality of this lipstick is fabulous. It smells good (am I the only one who loves a good smelling lipstick?!), is smooth on my lips, and stays on for quite awhile. Plus, how do ya like that packaging, huh?! So fun! I can’t wait to try out more colors.
MASCARA – Cheater!® Black Mascara
BLUSH – INSTAIN® Long-Wearing Powder Staining Blush, color: Argyle
The mascara with the hilarious packaging, oh my gosh. Unfortunately though, I was not a fan of this mascara. I prefer just a bit more coverage on my eyelashes – I have smaller eyes (and invisible eyelashes) so making my eyelashes look as dark and long as possible is key. After applying 3 coats of it, while it did not clump, I still wished for it to be darker.
I love the “stain” look when it comes to blush (especially in the summertime) and felt the blush I chose gave just enough color to my cheeks. At $22, it felt a bit on the pricey side but with the adorable packaging & mirror included, it was worth it to me.
Two out of three is pretty darn good I’d say, and I loved the lipstick so much that I think I’m pretty much sold on theBalm Girls® brand for life. Plus – I will be sharing my Nighttime Face Loxa review with you all in a few weeks and loved all of the items in that run. My experience with Loxa Beauty was so positive and I am clearly a fan.
