As most of you know, last weekend was an exciting one for my family and me – my brother got married! Christian and I are headed back to Nashville today with an incredibly busy week ahead of us but here I am because I have so, so much to be grateful for today and starting this week out on a high note, with all of you, is a MUST!
I’m a big fan of weddings, regardless of whose they are (I mean – CAKE and DANCING = YES FOREVER YES), but it’s extra special when it’s a wedding of someone in your family. My one and only sibling…. watching him marry Cassie – the most perfect person for him – was SO amazing 🙂 I thought for sure I’d “keep my cool” (aka: not be a sobbing mess) up until the vows but the minute Cassie started walking down the aisle to I Choose You by Sara Bareilles, I was done 😉 It was such a beautiful ceremony – full of their own personal touches – and I must say… I loved standing up there with them and seeing my own husband up there as the Best Man. SO special!
There was cake, there was dancing – there was even Michael Bolton (hilarious moment that I’ll share later this week). There were lots of funny and touching stories to celebrate the special couple, but it was also about two families being bonded as family forever… and that’s seriously awesome. We’ve all heard the saying, “You can choose your friends but you can’t choose your family” but I can honestly say that if I were to hand pick my brother’s in-laws and family, I would pick Cassie’s family. It’s great when two families get along with each other well, but it’s a serious blessing and straight up BLAST when the two families mesh SO well and have the same values (not to mention similar party styles 😉 Boy, do our families know how to have a good time – whew!) We are all exhausted but in the best way.
I am so grateful that my brother has found “his person” and that she is one seriously AWESOME gal who loves him beyond belief. (Also, did Cassie not make the most beautiful bride?!) Not only did I gain a sister on Saturday, but my family gained another family that we are blessed to consider life-long friends… and that just makes it all the more sweeter.
