Project 52: A Year of Little Moments

December 23, 2014
I cannot believe this week marks the last week of the yearlong photo series, Project 52. I definitely slacked towards the end and completely skipped a few weeks here and there, but I still look at the overall completion as an accomplishment 😉

Upon looking back at all of the photos, I realized a few things. I realized that it’s not easy to find time each week to go on a walk, but it is possible and even more so- necessary. I realized that it’s feasible to find more and more parts of yourself when you’re alone with nature, and that I have a great obsession with flowers and the sky. I realized that, while walking alone can serve a purpose to the soul, having a walking partner serves a greater purpose when you’re able to share with each other new dreams, and to reminisce on the favorite ones passed. I realized that you can walk the same streets each week and still find something new to take notice in, to admire. I think out of everything I learned during this year-long series, it’s that this series was about a lot of little moments that in turn made a big impact on my memories of our last year in Chicago. And for that, I’m so grateful.

This week, I am choosing one favorite picture from each week of Project 52, Weekly Walk. I’ve enjoyed this series so much that I’ve decided to start again for 2015. Until then, I hope you all are able to look back at this past year and  find little moments that in hindsight were so much greater in the big picture of things.

  • I love the idea of Project 52. I would love to have an excuse to take walks every week. It would get my butt up. I love when I do actually take walks but it's not often. I would love to do this next year! I love week 10…whoops!

  • I love this project. I'm thinking I might need to do it for 2015 with Bear

  • I love this idea. Some of my favorite memories of living in England were the simple, quiet walks my husband and I would take around our neighborhood. That was before we had our son and life got all crazy and stuff. Lol.

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas Emily. xo

  • What a good idea!

  • Fantastic idea! I might have to borrow! Happy holidays! Xo

  • Congrats on finishing this project! I loved reading along throughout the year to see what you'd find on your walks… I actually think I am going to start this project as well on my IG! Exercise, fresh air, nature… sounds perfect to me 🙂
PS – The 10/52 picture cracked me up!

  • You should! I'll be coming up with a different theme but definitely continuing this into 2015. It was a lot of fun!

  • haha! Oooj is going to LOVE the nice weather- it will mean more walks! 😉

  • I was kind of surprised at how "difficult" it was to take a walk each week… it made me realize how much I just sit around 😉 Of course, it's always easier to go outside when it's nice out – there were some days it was close to zero degrees and my walk may have consisted of going to the end of the block and back haha!

  • Yes!! Do it! 🙂 Bear would love that I'm sure.

  • 🙂 It's kind of crazy how life can get so busy to where I have to talk myself into a walk. A WALK. That was a big lesson for me in this project 🙂 Just get up and GO kinda thing.

I hope you had a great Christmas, V!! 🙂 XO

  • I hope you do it as well, Sarita! It was a lot of fun. Happy holidays to you!!

  • Thank you!! 🙂 It really forced me to take even 10 minutes and get outside… fresh air is good any time of the year, you know? I love that. I hope you do this, Caitlin! I would love to see your pictures- especially of your area/around town!

PS- yeah, that day turned out to be a blessing in disguise when my phone/camera died… it was one of my most favorite walks because I was less focused on finding a good picture and more in the moment of just enjoying nature. 🙂

  • I've always loved this project! I, like everyone else, might have to do this project this next year. Loved all the pics!

  • You should, Faith! Can't wait to see what theme you decide on! 🙂
