grateful heart monday

Santa! I know him!

December 12, 2016

Ok Monday, LET’S DO THIS. (Sometimes you have to pump yourself up and up and up on a Monday morning, am I right?) Good morning, all! Honestly, this morning snuck up on me. As I got into bed last night (at 9pm, for real) and realized I didn’t have a Grateful Heart post written for today yet, I could have gotten out of bed and thrown something together quickly. But I chose sleep πŸ™‚

Anyone else’s next few weeks crazy busy as we get closer to Christmas? I have quite the busy day today of paying bills, sorting out switching insurance companies (which is always such a joy, you know?) and then tonight, Crew gets to eat cookies with SANTA! (“Santa! I know him!”) Well, Crew gets to meet SantaΒ  – for the first time ever! ah! – and I will be eating some cookies πŸ˜‰ My babe is still a bit too young to understand what’s going on but I’m still seeing this holiday in different ways just by watching him taking it all in… like the way he looks at the lights on the tree, or the way he reaches out to touch the soft (faux) fur on his cute bear stocking. Or the face he makes when his mama puts a snowman hat on his head (ha!). It’s so crazy he’s experiencing these things for the first time and even though he may not completely understand it all, he’s still present. He’s still looking and feeling everything with real emotion. And that right there has been a good reminder for me. Introducing him to Santa tonight will be so much fun, but I really can’t wait to share with him the REAL reason we celebrate Christmas – Jesus!

Today my heart is grateful for all of these fun holiday things I get to watch my son take in for the first time. My heart is grateful for Jesus and for my greatest gift ever – CREW!

This will be the last Grateful Heart linkup of 2016… I’ll take a brief pause until after the new year and then start it back up. SO- because of that, this linkup today will be open until Friday December 23rd! Feel free to link up as many grateful posts as you’d like. And I still have a few fun posts to share with you all in these next few weeks so be sure to keep checking back here. (You can also find me on Instagram!)

Wishing all of you a GREAT week! What are you grateful for today?

  • I love this! It’s so great watching littles see/experience new things for the first time. Even though I don’t have my own little, I get the experience this with my nephews. πŸ™‚

    • It really is the best. And each age brings new things – so fun! πŸ™‚

  • I had a similar morning here! Didn’t write today’s post until I woke up because it was such a busy weekend and I was exhausted last night! Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas! <3

  • I freaked when I saw your picture at the top of this post. SO I’m not sure if that is your picture or not but the santa figurine in there is what my brother and I call “smoking Santa.” If its not yours, it holds an incense and the smoke comes out of his cigar and hot chocolate cup. It’s our favorite decoration and brings along so many memories. We both fight over who will get it when my mom passes. (Hopefully no time soon!) Anyway, that was everything that just went on in my head…all from a picture. I hope cookies with Santa went well and I hope your first christmas as a family of three is wonderful!

    • No way!!!!!!! haha that’s awesome! No, this isn’t my pic (I found it on Unsplash) but I so want to know more about this Santa – I kinda want one! Sounds so fun!

      • It really is! I have no idea where my mom got it from years ago but all I have to say is I better be inheriting it one day. πŸ˜‰

  • I love that even though Crew doesn’t necessarily understand everything, you’re still exposing him to all the Christmas cheer and glimmer and glam! He’s going to be the best little Christmas elf like his mama because of all that! (And your IG pics w/ Santa were the CUTEST!)

  • Enjoy all the first with your boy this Christmas!

  • I know you’re having a blast taking Crew to Christmas things for the first time. I just saw the picture of him with Santa and it’s so cute! And I’m with you, I have a lot of not-so-fun practical things to do today. John’s company (which is based in Austin) decided to fly him out tomorrow for their Christmas party, which is cool. We were planning on spending Christmas in Austin with my parents anyways but we were going to leave next week and drive there. So now we’re going to suddenly be leaving tomorrow! I’m excited to have more time there but I have SO much to do today with packing, including getting some last minute Christmas preparations taken care of here. Enjoy the days leading up to Christmas with your sweet family, I know you will!

    • Wow – how nice his company is flying him out to the party! (You get to go, right??) Good luck packing! Turn on a fun Christmas movie while you pack and clean – it always helps! πŸ™‚
