Happy holiday weekend! I hope most of you are out of work already and celebrating?! Christian flies home today and my parents are on their way down to Nashville to spend a long weekend with us – and wouldn’t you know we’re currently being blasted with the worst thunderstorms we’ve had since moving here! I’m praying the storms somehow miraculously go elsewhere so we’re not just left with beer and boardgames, but either way the party must go on, because #merica. Right?
I love the 4th of July, it’s my 2nd favorite holiday right after Christmas. I love the grilling out, warm weather and sunshine (hopefully!), snack foods (my fave!), and of course – fireworks! I feel like the entire thing just screams summertime. Christian and I have always had such fun Independence Day celebrations together. Here is a picture from one of my most favorite 4th’s – this is when we were dating and I was watching my man rock the keys with Night Ranger 🙂
Here are a few of my favorite reads from this week:
How You Get Through the Wave, by Nina from Flowers in my Hair. “‘There’s three things you can do when life sends a wave at you. You can run from it, but then it’s going to catch up and knock you down. You can also fall back on your ego and try to stand your ground, but then it’s still going to clobber you. Or you can use it as an opportunity to go deep, and transform yourself to match the circumstances. And that’s how you get through the wave.’ – Humans of New York.”
We are all “Those People”, by Sheryl from How to Make a Life. “I am grateful that I am able to live my life realizing that I am truly not much different from others regardless of who they are.”
Wishing you all the best weekend!
